Shortly before the Patchogue YMCA was set to open, the unthinkable happened. With the indoor running track supplier backing out of the project, Donna Boyle had to face the realization that there may not be a track in place for the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening just over a month away. As Executive Director of the new YMCA in Patchogue New York, a 54,000 square foot full recreational facility serving the south shore of Long Island, she needed an immediate solution that could be installed quickly, efficiently and affordably.
Thanks to Thor Performance Products in Mountainville, NY, and Regupol America's revolutionary Kombi line of multipurpose sports surfaces, the job was saved in the 11th hour and the beautiful light gray track was in place on opening day. The indoor running track, suspended over a double gym and offering three lanes for running and walking, not only looked great for the official ceremony, but has and will continue to serve the needs of the center while helping set it apart from other YMCA's in the area. "There are stretching areas in corner stations, speed bags, great views of the entire village of Patchogue, and it overlooks the lake," says Boyle. "It's really serving a need for people in the area," she added.
Boyle has been extremely pleased with the entire situation saying "It's been great, no complaints. Thor Performance did everything possible to get the track installed on time and I thank them as they certainly came through for us in a pinch."
As a durable, efficient and environmentally friendly product that provides slip resistant traction and cushioned support, the Regupol Kombi track at the Patchogue YMCA will serve many athletes and members in the years to come. In fact, just over five months after opening, Boyle and her team saw membership increase by 12,000 people. Both Regupol America and Thor Performance Products wish them continued success.
